Kuba Bąkowski (Poland)

He graduated from the Faculty of Multimedia Communication University of Arts in Poznań. His artistic projects have been mainly experimental, going beyond traditional concepts of photography, film and performance. His works include installations, kinetic objects, and recently also robot sculptures. He is known for analytical, deeply ironic projects verging on absurdity, reflecting the surrounding reality which is full of paradoxes. He draws his inspiration from high-tech and different fields of science, anthropology and natural history. He cooperates with scientists, engineers and designers. He has travelled to the far North; his recent projects have been carried out in the barren territories of the freezing cold North Western Canada, where he worked together with the native inhabitants. Kuba Bąkowski has presented various projects during individual and collective exhibitions in Zachęta National Gallery of Art, Foksal Gallery and Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw. His works have been presented in Museum Moderner Kunst in Vienna, Museé d’Art Moderne in Saint-Etienne, Artspace Sydney, National Center for Contemporary Arts in Moscow, Palazzo delle Arti Napoli, Centro d’Arte Contemporanea Villa Manin, Chelsea Art Museum New York and in several dozen projects in Poland and abroad.
